As a Postpartum Doula, I provide evidence based information to new mothers and their families. New mothers experience such a wide range of emotions and changes, and I am there to support them as much or as little as they need. Having been a nanny for 20+ years, I longed for something more working with women and children. Having discovered that Postpartum Doulas exist and what their role is was an “ah ha” moment for me. It was at that moment that I knew this was exactly what I was meant to do. Helping not only these new mothers, but the family as a whole, integrate into this new normal is such a rewarding feeling. Too often, I hear, “where were you when I had my child” so I am trying really hard to advocate for the role of Postpartum Doulas and the amazing work we do to provide services to families.
