I teach all levels of yoga and private yoga sessions. I discovered yoga several years ago when I had some chronic lower back pain. Yoga helped ease the pain, and it woke me up not only to increased strength, flexibility, and balance, but also to the mind-body connection and the endless opportunity to find mental clarity, relaxation, and focus. After practicing yoga for about 12 years, I decided to do a teacher training program. I have been a classroom teacher for 20 years, and so teaching yoga seemed like a natural fit for me. I did my 200-Hour teacher training at Whole Life Yoga in Seattle in Viniyoga. Viniyoga is accessible to all ages, levels, experiences, and abilities. I also practice Hatha, Restorative, Vinyasa, Gentle, and Yin Yoga. I am looking forward to incorporating what I learned about Viniyoga into what I have learned in my own practice and from other practitioners over the last several years. I believe in adapting and modifying yoga to fit the needs of the individual. Yoga is like a dialogue between the mind and the body, and I encourage my students to listen actively to that discussion. Yoga was kind of a slow discovery for me; after several years, I was able to transfer what I was doing and discovering on the mat into my daily life. My stress levels decreased and I found myself becoming more mindful and intentional both on and off the mat. I am always inspired by the variety of teachers and styles, especially here in the Seattle area. I feel like I have just scratched the surface in terms of learning about yoga. I love seeing the effects that yoga has on the spirit, mind, and body. Connecting with other people and sharing the multitude of spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical benefits is very rewarding. I am a nurturing, supportive, committed, fun, and focused teacher. I am not afraid to be myself, incorporate a sense of humor, and make myself available for questions and inquiries about the practice. I offer encouragement and can provide knowledge regarding asana, pranayama, and meditation. I am inspired by my family, the great outdoors, our ability to make choices, overall health and wellness, and inner beauty found in others. I am also a watercolor artist, and that creative side of me enjoys finding its way into my yoga instruction. I believe variety is the spice of life, and it’s what keeps us coming back for more. I also have a watercolor website, www.artbymoni.com.
